homebody
noun: a person who likes spending time at home.
Our bodies are our first and most enduring home. Yet modern life often conditions us to override their natural rhythms, to suppress signals of fatigue, emotion, or need in order to keep going. Over time, this disconnection can make it difficult to feel safe, present, or attuned to ourselves.
Research shows that the body does not simply carry us; it also carries memory, meaning, and story. The nervous system encodes our experiences, and when left unsupported, these imprints can shape how we breathe, move, and relate.
Breathwork and Reiki provide structured ways of returning to the body with curiosity rather than demand. These practices help regulate the nervous system, restore a sense of safety, and open space to reconnect with intuition and inner guidance. In this way, the body can once again feel like a place to inhabit — not with judgment or expectation, but with presence, acceptance, and care.
a philosophical and psychological foundation
My work is informed by both philosophy and psychology. From an existential and phenomenological perspective, our sense of identity, purpose, and belonging is lived through the body, not just thought about in the mind. How we breathe, hold tension, and respond under pressure often reflects how we navigate our wider lives.
Psychological research shows that the body and nervous system adapt to constant demands. In high-responsibility, high-pressure environments, this can mean staying in a heightened state of alertness, useful for performance but costly for rest, clarity, and long-term well-being. Over time, this can create disconnection from the body’s natural rhythms and signals.
Reiki and breathwork provide a space to step out of that cycle. Physiologically, they help shift the nervous system from “drive mode” into regulation, supporting clearer focus, steadier mood, and the capacity to recover energy. Philosophically, they offer a chance to listen inwardly — to connect with meaning and direction beyond external demands.
In this way, the work becomes both restorative and grounding: a way to come home to yourself so that you can meet the challenges of life with more presence, clarity, and resilience.
a spiritual practice
Reiki can be understood as a spiritual practice, not in a religious sense, but in a deeply human one. It works with the idea of restoring flow where there has been tension and softening where there has been armour. Many people experience it as a reminder that we are part of something larger than ourselves: the natural world, our ancestry, the rhythm of the breath, or simply the present moment.
Sessions are a protected space to step outside of constant demands and remember that wholeness is not something to achieve, but something already present within you
